I learned and was reminded a lot about kids feelings and effects of trauma. I appreciated the format in that I could view on my own schedule. I always need to remember the effects of my child’s trauma on his reactions to my requests. It is also comforting to know others’ struggles with their kids – not that they are struggling but that I’m not the only one. Watching and learning the sessions has definitely helped me put things in perspective and helped become more aware of subjects that I wasn’t aware of like kinship foster and services available to help prepare children for independence.

I have completed only those videos most applicable to my situation first. So far I found the
Training very helpful. Burnout comes quickly with my special needs ADHD son. A better understanding of what is normal of hurt children and the advice coming from parents who had real opportunities with these children in there homes made me more compassionate with my son.
Testing for certification should be more strict, as to make sure we understood some of the content.
